By golly, it's an actual post. From me. Here goes:
This month (actually this Friday) my little Olivia turns 4. 4 seems like such a big girl, no longer a toddler. We have adopted a practice of me taking the girls out during their birthday month with a special Mommy date. (Brian gets a date with them in their 1/2 birthday month)
A couple of Saturdays ago I took Olivia out to her date of choice. Almost. I did have to make a few minor changes. Instead of McDonalds we had Red Robin and when I said that we would go shopping wherever she chose, I did have to persuade her that Target and Gap were betterdifferent choices than IGA. (the Grocery Store) So really, I guess that this would have qualified as mommy/mommy date. Anyway, we started off at Target. Lots of fun, I had to pick up a few things and then we spent a whole lotta time in the toy department. We made her birthday list, which is especially hard to come up with when your birthday is right after Christmas.
We went to Old Navy, where we were on the hunt for a dress or two. The girl LOVES dresses. Wears them nearly everyday unless they are all *magically* dirty. No luck at Old Navy, though she does love the little mannequins. A little embarrassing, but part of our day, so I snapped a picture.
Then we hit GAP. No luck there either. I can ALWAYS find something at GAP, unless of course I am looking...
Next we hit Red Robin for an early-ish lunch. She ate mac and cheese and had a birthday Sundae after they sang happy birthday to her. She happily chatted with me the entire time and was just plain giddy.
The best part about Red Robin was that Olivia was asking how to write her last name, so I started writing it for her and then our food arrived and set it aside. Then the waiter showed up with our food and Olivia took the menu (that I had been writing on) to show the guy her coloring. Unfortunately, I had only written BRA in big blue letters. oh well.
After lunch, we met our Grandma at the movie theater to see 'The Princess and the Frog'.
Overall, the day was an absolute success!
4 years old!!! Happy Birthday Olivia! I love her face in the last picture.

sounds like such a fun date! We hit the GAP recently and yup, no luck on dresses. We found one option at Gymboree, but that was it.
I love the mannequin picture too! Happy Birthday Olivia!

Drew's favorite thing to do is hug the manequins at Old Navy too! What a couple of weirdos.
